First Let me Update with Origins Labs Day (which was Yesterday or Wednesday). I was blessed to have this day completely off where I got to explore all of the labs of different speakers. I have NEVER heard of Erwin Mcmanus but it is SO refreshing to hear another man chasing truth and doing what he can to share that with complete strangers. It is also refreshing to hear how he struggles with doing MORE with his life.
You can find more of this story after the bump
Erwin started the day off (he is a pastor from a church called Mosaic and this event was sponsored by them). He completely blew me away with his ideas of 1st, 2nd and 3rd space. It was spectacular. Afterwards we all broke up and there were 3 blocks for events you could see. During that time there were at least 4 different things to choose from.
The first event I saw was led by Jamie Tworkowski and it had the description: “Pain & Hope: A conversation about meeting people where they are.” This sounded great to me. Sadly it was led by the guy who started To Write Love On Her Arms. I don’t want to get into it here too much but that is one organization that I do NOT support. So this was quite disappointing.
The next group that I went to was led by David Arcos and this was about Chaos Leadership. This thing was freaking phenomenal. I can’t quite get to it at the moment but hopefully I will be able to elaborate more shortly.
My final breakout was led by Alan & Deborah Hirsch and this was BY FAR my favorite breakout session. They had a lot to share and were not afraid to drop an overwhelming hammer on the comfortable Christian leaders I was sitting with. One point that rendered me silent for quite some time was the idea that we as followers of Christ are called to live like Him. The criminals, prostitutes and other questionable people were attracted to Him, they wanted to be in His company. Their point was that if these people are NOT attracted to us then something is wrong. I absolutely love the power in that statement. More to come…
